Gardenscapes shows “Synchronization in Progress”? Learn what On Device and On Server mean, why an old save may appear, and what to choose safely.

You install Gardenscapes to create a new game. You may even use a completely new Google account that has never been used for Gardenscapes.

Then this message appears:

“Attention! Synchronization in Progress. Would you like to load your other saved data for your game?”

Gardenscapes gives you two choices: On Device and On Server. The surprising part is that the server game may be an older Gardenscapes account you were not expecting to see.

What Do On Device and On Server Mean?

On Device is the game currently saved on your device. This distinction becomes especially important with multiple accounts, because different saves can appear on the same phone.

On Server is another Gardenscapes save found on the server and offered for you to load.

The two saves can have completely different levels, coins, stars and Player IDs.

What Should You Choose?

Your Goal What to Check
You want a completely new Gardenscapes account Choose On Device only if it clearly shows the new game, usually Level 1
You want to restore an existing garden Choose On Server only if you recognize the level, coins, stars and progress
You do not recognize the server game Do not select it until you know which save it is

🎁 Bonus Tip

Compare the Two Saves Before You Tap Select

Check the level, coins, stars and last synchronization time, if shown.

For example, one option may show a new game at Level 1, while the server option shows an established game at Level 6,103. If the goal is to create a new account, the Level 1 save is the one that should be kept.

Why Can an Old Game Appear With a New Email?

A player may use a completely new Google email and still see an older Gardenscapes game under On Server. The old Google account may not even be added to the phone.

The Google Play Store and Google Play Games can both show the new email while Gardenscapes still offers another saved game.

This does not prove that Gardenscapes found or accessed the old email. It only means that its synchronization system found another saved game associated with the current setup.

Playrix does not publicly explain exactly which device, installation or account identifier causes every server save to appear.

Check Google Play Before Choosing

  1. Open the Google Play Store in the same profile where Gardenscapes is installed.
  2. Check the active Google email.
  3. Check the Google Play Games account used for Gardenscapes.

If you are using a separate Android Work Profile, the same rule applies when using Island: check Google Play and Play Games inside that profile, not only on the personal side of the phone.

If both show the correct new email, repeatedly changing Google accounts may not solve the problem. The important step is to identify which Gardenscapes save you actually want.

Can This Happen With More Than One Account on the Same Phone?

It may. A player can encounter this while creating a second or third account with a different Google account, Android Work Profile, Island or Samsung Secure Folder.

These environments separate app data, but they still run on the same physical device. This does not mean that Island or Secure Folder causes the problem. Players using different profiles on the same phone may simply be more likely to encounter account or synchronization issues.

Playrix advises against using multiple game accounts on one device and states that each game has a unique ID associated with the device where it was started.

Is It the Android Device ID?

There is no way to confirm that from the synchronization screen. Playrix does not publicly explain which exact identifier causes a server save to appear, so it cannot be assumed that the Android Device ID is responsible.

What Happens If You Choose On Device?

If On Device clearly shows the new game and you select it, Gardenscapes can continue with that progress instead of loading the older server save.

After the game opens, go to Settings and check the Player ID. A new Gardenscapes game should have its own Player ID, so save it somewhere safe if you use more than one account.

The Simple Rule

Always identify the save by its level, coins, stars and synchronization details before choosing On Device or On Server.
