The Slot Machine is one of the more unusual elements in Gardenscapes. It is not a standard obstacle that simply needs to be cleared. Instead, it rewards the player with three matching power-ups after the correct sequence of moves.

The main challenge is keeping the sequence going. If the player makes an unrelated move, the machine’s progress resets. However, this reset can also be used strategically to change the upcoming reward.

What Can the Slot Machine Produce?

Once fully activated, the Slot Machine places three identical power-ups on the board. It can produce:

Three Firecrackers.
Three Bombs.
Three Dynamite power-ups.
Three TNT power-ups.
Three Rainbow Blasts.

The machine’s display shows which power-up it is preparing to produce. The player can either complete the activation and collect that reward or interrupt the sequence and try again for something different.

The shortest possible activation sequence is:

Use one power-up explosion to remove the protective cover.
Make the first hit after the machine is uncovered.
Make a second consecutive hit.
Make a third consecutive hit to activate the machine.

This means the Slot Machine requires at least four actions in total. The final three must happen without an unrelated move in between.

What Happens If the Sequence Is Interrupted?

If the player makes a move that does not create a match or explosion next to the Slot Machine, the three-hit sequence resets. The player must start the sequence again, but the protective cover does not need to be removed a second time.

Before making the first hit, check whether there are enough matches or power-ups around the machine to keep the streak going. Otherwise, the activation may stop halfway through and waste valuable moves.

This combination can clear a large part of the board and trigger chain reactions involving other power-ups and level elements. If enough moves remain, skipping a weaker reward may be worthwhile for another chance to get Rainbow Blasts.

How Does Its Position Affect the Difficulty?

The Slot Machine stays in its original position and does not move with the regular pieces. When it is placed in an open area, there are more spaces around it where matches and explosions can be created, making it easier to complete the sequence.

If it is placed near an edge, in a corner, or inside a blocked section of the board, the player has fewer options. After receiving all the required hits, the Slot Machine produces the three power-ups and disappears, leaving its space open.

The first recorded appearance of the Slot Machine was in Gardenscapes Level 15,186 in July 2024. However, the element was not initially available on every player account, so some players first encountered it in a later level.

The Best Strategy for the Slot Machine

Make sure you can complete three consecutive actions next to the machine before starting the sequence.
Use power-ups with a wide blast range when the machine is in a difficult position.
Do not waste moves trying to change the reward when the level is almost over.
Aim for Rainbow Blasts when you need to clear a large part of the board.
Check whether two of the Rainbow Blasts can be combined after they appear.
