Learn how Secret Passage works in Gardenscapes. Discover the wheel, Paws, Bonus, Super Bonus, Lucky Strike, the three cooperative tablets, token milestones, rewards, and the Grand Prize.
Secret Passage is a cooperative Gardenscapes event in which each player selects three different teammates. A separate shared mission is created with each teammate, and every mission appears on a different tablet.
This means that each player has a total of three tablets, one for each of the three selected teammates. Two players participate on each tablet and collect the tokens required to unlock the three rewards along that specific route. If you have already played the Fancy Feathers event, the cooperative concept will feel familiar, although Secret Passage uses a completely different gameplay mechanic.
Paws are the currency used for spins during the event. Players earn Paws by completing levels and use them to spin the wheel. Each spin consumes one Paw when the x1 option is selected.
The Dog’s Route
The dog continuously moves forward along a straight route.
The route does not appear to have a specific ending. It continues for as long as the player uses Paws and collects the tokens required to complete the reward stages.
Different types of stones appear along the route.
Colored Stones
- Green.
- Blue.
- Red.
- Yellow.
Each color corresponds to one of the four colors displayed on the wheel.
Special Stones
- x2.
- Bonus.
- Super Bonus.
- Paw.
How the Wheel Works
When the player presses GO, the wheel selects one of the four colors. An Autospin option is also available, allowing the spins to continue automatically.
The dog always moves to the first stone of the selected color located ahead of it.
This means that the distance traveled changes with every spin, depending on the arrangement of the colored stones farther along the route.
The wheel does not directly award the final tablet rewards. It determines which colored stone the dog will move to and how many tokens will be collected along the route. The four colored token symbols are the leaf, acorn, sun, and snowflake. All collected tokens are added to the progress bar at the top of the screen.
Bet Multiplier Selection
A multiplier selection button appears to the right of the wheel. Players can use x1, x5, x10, x20, or x50 Paws on each spin. The higher the selected multiplier, the higher the token values shown on the stones.
For example, a stone that awards 10 tokens at x1 may award 50 tokens at x5, 100 tokens at x10, 200 tokens at x20, and 500 tokens at x50.
A successful spin with a high multiplier can therefore produce a very large number of tokens, especially when it is combined with Bonus, Super Bonus, or Lucky Strike. Knowing when to increase your multiplier is part of efficient event management, similar to the strategies discussed in How Top Gardenscapes Players Manage Coins, Events and Boosters Differently.
Numbered Stones
The regular stones display numbers such as:
- 1.
- 2.
- 5.
- 10.
- 20.
The number shows how many tokens the player receives when the dog stops on that particular stone.
How the Bonus Works
When the dog stops on a Bonus stone, the player does not immediately receive a fixed number of tokens.
Instead, a free spin appears with the label Free.
This Free spin starts a special bonus route.
The dog runs forward, passes several stones, and collects the tokens positioned along the route.
At the end, the dog stops at one of the consecutive colored sections and the Bonus round is completed.
Lucky Strike
When Bonus or Super Bonus is activated, the dog begins running along a special route.
Several consecutive sections appear ahead, featuring four different colors.
Tokens are positioned before each colored section and can be collected as the dog moves forward.
If the dog stops at the first, second, or third color, the player receives only the tokens collected up to that point.
However, if the dog completes the entire route, reaches the fourth and final color, and collects all available tokens, Lucky Strike is activated.
Lucky Strike is essentially the jackpot of the bonus route and represents the highest possible token collection during that round.
The Special Route Stones
The x2 stone doubles the tokens earned.
When Bonus is completed with a Lucky Strike, it awards the highest standard reward of the bonus route, which is 100 tokens.
When Super Bonus is completed with a Lucky Strike, it doubles the highest reward and awards 200 tokens.
The stone displaying a Paw does not appear to be a regular stopping point for the dog. It seems to function as an indicator of the maximum range that can be covered by the x2 effect.
The Basic Event Sequence
The player completes levels and earns Paws.
The player uses 1, 5, 10, 20, or 50 Paws to spin the wheel, depending on the selected multiplier.
The wheel selects one of the four colors.
The dog moves to the first stone of that color located ahead of it.
If the dog stops on a numbered stone, the player receives the corresponding number of tokens.
If x2 is activated, the tokens are doubled.
If the dog stops on Bonus or Super Bonus, a special bonus route begins.
The collected tokens are added to the shared progress of the corresponding tablet.
When the required token totals are reached, the three tablet rewards are unlocked one after another.
When the player completes all three tablets and opens the final chest on each one, the Grand Prize is unlocked.
How the Three Tablets Work
Each tablet represents a separate cooperation between the player and one of the three selected teammates.
For example, if a player selects teammates A, B, and C, the player will have:
- one tablet shared with teammate A,
- one tablet shared with teammate B,
- and one tablet shared with teammate C.
The three routes are independent. Tokens collected on the first tablet are not added to the second or third tablet. Each pair of players must complete its own separate progress bar.
Token Requirements Are Not the Same for Every Player
The total number of tokens required to complete each tablet is not necessarily the same for every player. The requirement appears to vary depending on the player's current Gardenscapes level range, which follows the same type of variation explained in Why Gardenscapes Events Are Not the Same for Every Player.
For players participating from higher levels, the final requirement for opening the last chest on each tablet is 24,000 tokens. Players at lower levels may see smaller requirements.
The 6,000, 12,000, and 24,000 token milestones listed below therefore apply to the route shown to higher-level players.
The Three Reward Stages on Each Tablet
Each tablet includes three different stages. When the combined progress of the two players reaches the required milestone, the corresponding reward is unlocked.
First Stage: 6,000 Tokens
The first reward is unlocked when the pair collects a total of 6,000 tokens.
Reward: 1 Rainbow Blast.
Second Stage: 12,000 Tokens
The second reward is unlocked when the shared progress reaches a total of 12,000 tokens.
Reward: 1 Shovel.
Third Stage: 24,000 Tokens
The third and final stage is completed when the pair collects a total of 24,000 tokens.
At this point, the final tablet chest opens.
Rewards:
- 1 Card Pack containing 4 cards.
- 1 Dynamite.
Once the final chest has been opened, that shared route is considered complete.
The Tokens Collected by Both Players Are Combined
Each tablet has one shared progress bar. The tokens collected by one player are added to the tokens collected by the teammate.
Each player does not need to collect 24,000 tokens separately. To complete a higher-level tablet, the combined total contributed by both players only needs to reach 24,000 tokens.
For example, the final requirement could be completed with:
- 12,000 tokens from the first player and 12,000 from the second.
- 18,000 tokens from the first player and 6,000 from the second.
- 20,000 tokens from the first player and 4,000 from the second.
- 24,000 tokens from only one player.
The way the contribution is divided does not affect the completion of the tablet. The only thing that matters is reaching the shared milestone.
Both Players Are Not Required to Contribute
Although Secret Passage is a cooperative event, there is no requirement for both players to contribute an equal number of tokens.
One player can even collect all 24,000 tokens required to complete a higher-level tablet without receiving any contribution from the teammate.
When a stage is completed, its reward is unlocked for both players, regardless of how many tokens each player contributed.
This means that a teammate may collect no tokens at all and still receive the rewards, provided the other player completes the entire route alone.
What Happens When a Teammate Does Not Play
If a teammate does not participate or stops playing, the tablet is not canceled. The other player can continue collecting tokens until all three stages have been completed.
The absence of the second player does not block progress. However, it significantly increases the amount of work required from the active player.
If this happens on all three tablets, a higher-level player may need to collect up to 24,000 tokens alone in each separate partnership.
How Many Tokens a Player May Need in Total
For the higher-level category, each tablet is completed at 24,000 tokens. Since there are three tablets, the total progress required across all three routes is:
24,000 × 3 = 72,000 tokens.
This does not mean that the same player must collect all 72,000 tokens alone. The contribution of the corresponding teammate is counted separately on each tablet.
However, if none of the three teammates contributes any tokens, the player may indeed need to collect the entire amount alone.
For lower-level players, the total required amount may be different because the individual tablet milestones can change.
When the Grand Prize Is Unlocked
The Grand Prize is not unlocked after completing only one tablet.
The player must complete all three separate partnerships. This means that the final chest must be opened:
- on the first teammate’s tablet,
- on the second teammate’s tablet,
- and on the third teammate’s tablet.
For higher-level players, each of these tablets is completed when the shared total reaches 24,000 tokens.
Only after all three tablets have been completed does the final Secret Passage door open and the Grand Prize become available.
What the Grand Prize Includes
The Secret Passage Grand Prize includes several valuable rewards. One of the highlights is a Sapphire Pack containing six cards and one guaranteed new card. If you would like to learn how Sapphire Packs fit into the overall album system, see our complete Gardenscapes Card Collection guide.
- a new decorative Nickname Style,
- a Sapphire Pack containing 6 cards and a guaranteed new card,
- 2,500 coins,
- 1 Bomb,
- 1 Dart,
- 1 Kettlebell,
- 1 Desk Fan.
The Nickname Style is the event’s special decorative reward and changes the appearance of the player’s name.
Why Choosing the Right Teammates Is Important
The selection of the three teammates plays an important role in how quickly Secret Passage can be completed.
With active teammates, the required tokens are shared and the tablets can be completed faster. With inactive teammates, the player may be forced to cover a very large part of the total requirement alone.
Ideally, teammates should play regularly, collect tokens, and remain active until the event ends.
Conclusion
Secret Passage is not a single four-player mission with one shared progress bar. Each player selects three teammates and creates three separate partnerships with them, displayed on three independent tablets.
The gameplay is based on earning Paws from levels, spinning the wheel, and moving the dog along the route. The wheel determines the next color, while the numbered stones, x2, Bonus, Super Bonus, and Lucky Strike affect the number of tokens collected.
Two players participate on each tablet, and their tokens are combined in the same shared progress bar. For higher-level players, the Rainbow Blast is unlocked at 6,000 tokens, the Shovel at 12,000 tokens, and the final chest at 24,000 tokens. The chest contains a four-card Card Pack and one Dynamite.
Both players are not required to contribute, because one player can complete the entire tablet alone and unlock the rewards for the teammate as well. The Grand Prize becomes available only after the player completes all three tablets and opens the final chest in each of the three partnerships.
