Here is how Date Night works in Gardenscapes, including Drops, merging, frozen coffees, the four stages, collection rewards, Pawsome Progress, and what to do when the board gets crowded.
Gardenscapes Date Night Event: How to Play, Merge Chains, 38 Items and Rewards
Updated August 29, 2026: Our current run has reached Stage 4/4 and 35/38 collection items. We are updating this guide only with things we can confirm from our own gameplay or clear player reports.
Date Night is a merge event built around Robbie preparing a special date and vow renewal. It works very differently from the normal match-3 board, and like other Gardenscapes events, it may not appear for every player at the same time.
How to Play Date Night
- Play regular levels to earn the event resource called Cups.
- Open Date Night and press Drop.
- The small icon on the Drop button shows which item is coming next.
- Merge two identical items to create a better one.
- Try to create the items shown in the bar at the top.
- Finish the bar to get a key and move to the next stage.
That is the main idea. You do not need to complete every merge chain at the same time. Concentrate mainly on what the top bar is asking for.
How Drop Works
Every time you press Drop, the next item appears on the board and the red number goes down by one.
Always look at the small picture on the button first. It shows what is coming next, which can help you avoid filling the board with items you cannot use yet.
When your available Drops run out, the button changes to Play.
How Merging Works
Drag two identical items together and they become the next item in that chain. Coffee is the first obvious chain, but later you also get cakes, coins, gifts, tickets, and other items.
The board can become crowded quickly, so merge matching items whenever possible. This is one reason the pressure can increase as the event continues.
How Frozen Coffees Work
If you see a coffee trapped in ice, create the same coffee outside the ice and merge it with the frozen one.
The ice breaks and the two matching coffees combine.
We have confirmed this with frozen coffee items in our own gameplay.
Date Night Has Four Stages
The event has four stages.
When you create the final item required by the top bar, you get a key and move to the next stage.
The game tells you that your current event items move with you. In our recordings, those items were not lost. They were carried forward and became available again through Drop in the next stage.
Stage Progress and Collection Progress Are Different
This is important.
- Stage progress comes from creating the items shown at the top.
- Collection progress comes from discovering new items.
You can discover many new items without finishing the current stage. Our run has now reached 35/38 collection items.
The Collection Has 38 Items
When you create something new, the game can show New Item Found!.
Open the Collection and claim the new item reward. The individual discoveries we recorded gave 5 coins each.
The collection is divided into:
- Coffee Delights
- Sweet Treats
- Gold Coins
- Booster Set
- Gift Boxes
Current Collection Rewards
| Collection | Reward |
|---|---|
| Coffee Delights | Emerald Pack + 150 coins |
| Sweet Treats | Lazurite Pack + 300 coins |
| Gold Coins | Bronze Pack + 50 coins |
| Booster Set | 50 coins + 1 Bomb |
| Gift Boxes | 15 minutes unlimited lives + 50 coins |
Gold Coins, Booster Set, and Gift Boxes were claimed during our gameplay. Coffee Delights and Sweet Treats are currently visible in the Collection as rewards.
Card Packs
- Bronze Pack: 2 cards
- Emerald Pack: 3 cards
- Lazurite Pack: 4 cards
- Sapphire Pack: 6 cards and at least one missing gold card
Pawsome Progress
Pawsome Progress has a Free reward path and an optional VIP path. VIP currently costs €4.99 on our account.
Free rewards can include coffee items. After claiming one of these rewards, we saw that coffee appear as the next item in the Drop preview.
VIP rewards we have seen include coins, card packs, Shovel, Kettlebell, Dynamite, and other rewards.
What Does the Crown Mean?
A crown means the item has reached the maximum level of that chain.
Some crowned items can be collected. When you collect them, they disappear and free one square on the board.
We confirmed this ourselves with crowned reward chests. In our recordings, these chests gave 10 minutes of unlimited lives plus a booster. We saw Rainbow Blast, Bomb, and Dynamite in different chests, so the booster is not always the same.
How to Collect Coins and Free Space
If coins are taking up space, tap the coin item to select it and tap it again to collect it.
The coins disappear and the square becomes empty.
This is useful when your board starts getting crowded.
Missing Trash Can Bug
Some players report that a trash can icon should appear for certain removable items, but it does not appear for them.
A Playrix Support reply shared by a player says the missing trash can icon is a known issue being investigated.
We also have not seen the trash can appear in our own recordings.
How to Avoid a Full Board
- Merge matching items before pressing Drop again.
- Keep a few empty squares whenever possible.
- Check what the next Drop will be.
- Collect coins when you need space.
- Collect crowned items when they are ready and no longer needed.
- Concentrate on the items shown in the top stage bar.
Good board management makes a big difference, especially because several different merge chains can be active at the same time.
Final Collection Chest
The current final chest preview shows:
- Sapphire Pack
- Shovel
- Dart
- Kettlebell
- Desk Fan
We have not opened the final chest yet, so these remain preview rewards until we confirm the actual payout.
Is Date Night Available to Everyone?
No. Players have reported different availability even at similar times.
This means Date Night appears to be selectively available, but there is no evidence that it is limited only to low-level players.
Best Tips for Date Night
Keep it simple: follow the top bar, merge what you can, watch the next Drop, and always protect some empty spaces.
If you start running low on space, collect coins and any collectible crowned items you no longer need. If progress slows down, it may also be worth knowing when to slow down during an event.
Is the VIP Pass Worth €4.99?
That depends on how many Pawsome rewards you are likely to unlock. Check your current progress before paying instead of buying it only because the premium rewards look attractive.
The same idea applies when deciding whether pushing an event is worth the cost.
What We Are Still Checking
- The final 3 collection items.
- The complete merge chains for every category.
- Whether all frozen item types work exactly like frozen coffees.
- The final collection chest payout.
- More details about the missing trash can bug.
Final Thoughts
Date Night (video) looks complicated at first, but the basic idea is simple: use Drop, merge identical items, follow the top bar, and keep enough empty space to continue.
Our current run has reached Stage 4/4 and 35/38 collection items. We will keep updating this guide as we confirm the remaining items and rewards.
