Do Gardenscapes bonuses start automatically? Learn how timed bonuses work and when to claim Garden Pass, Explosive Rewards, and BlackBerry Treasure rewards.
In Gardenscapes, most timed bonuses start automatically as soon as you earn or collect them. That means the countdown begins right away, and you cannot simply save them to use whenever you want.
However, not all bonuses work the same way. There is one important exception: bonuses in the Garden Pass. You can leave these rewards unclaimed until you decide when you want to collect and use them.
How Bonuses Used to Work
In older versions of the game, timed bonuses — such as unlimited lives or temporary unlimited boosters — could, in many cases, be saved and activated later.
That gave you more control. You could wait for the right moment, combine them with an event, or simply use them when you actually had enough time to play without interruptions.
Choosing when to use a timed bonus could therefore be part of your strategy.
How Timed Bonuses Work Now
Today, most timed bonuses activate automatically as soon as you receive them. From that moment on, the countdown starts, whether you plan to keep playing or not.
For example, if you receive an unlimited bonus that lasts for a certain amount of time and close the game shortly afterward, the timer keeps running. You cannot pause the countdown and save the remaining time for later.
That means it is worth knowing whether a reward contains a timed bonus before you collect it, especially if you are about to stop playing.
The Important Exception: Garden Pass
Bonuses in the Garden Pass work differently. You do not have to collect them as soon as they become available.
You can leave them in the Garden Pass and claim them later, when you know you actually have time to play. The timed bonus starts when you collect the reward, not simply when you unlock it.
This is especially useful for rewards such as unlimited lives or temporary unlimited boosters. If you are not planning to play right away, you can wait and activate them when you will actually be able to make full use of the time they give you.
Of course, you cannot leave them there forever. You need to claim them while that particular Garden Pass and its rewards are still available.
Explosive Rewards and BlackBerry Treasure Need Good Timing Too
The same timing issue also matters with events such as Explosive Rewards and BlackBerry Treasure. These events can include unlimited boosters among their rewards, which means collecting them at the wrong moment can waste a large part of their value.
If you are close to reaching an unlimited booster reward in Explosive Rewards, it can be better to wait until you know you have enough time to keep playing. Once you collect the reward and the timer starts, you want to be able to use as much of that unlimited booster time as possible.
The same applies to BlackBerry Treasure. If the next reward includes an unlimited booster and you are about to stop playing, there is little advantage in collecting it immediately. Waiting until you have a longer uninterrupted session can make the reward much more useful.
In other words, reaching a reward does not always mean you should collect it instantly. If the game gives you the option to wait before claiming an unlimited booster, the best moment is usually when you know you can continue playing for most or all of its duration.
Why Automatic Activation Matters
The difference may seem small, but it can significantly change the way you manage your playtime.
When a bonus starts automatically, there is immediate pressure to keep playing so that part of its duration does not go to waste. Instead of freely deciding when to use the reward, you have to work around a timer that is already running. This is one example of how Gardenscapes reward systems have changed over time, giving players less control over exactly when some rewards are used.
That does not mean you have to keep playing. It simply means that if you stop, part or even all of the bonus may expire before you get a chance to use it.
How This Affects Your Gameplay
A timed bonus can be extremely useful when you receive it at the right moment. But if you get one just before you are about to close the game, the exact same reward may be much less valuable to you.
Timed bonuses therefore do more than help you clear levels. They can also influence when it makes sense to keep playing, especially when you have active events running or difficult levels that may take several attempts.
This is why the moment you collect a reward can matter almost as much as the reward itself. An unlimited booster that starts when you have plenty of time to play can help you through many levels, while the same booster collected just before you leave the game may barely be used at all.
The Real Difference Is Timing
The biggest difference is not the bonus itself. It is how much control you have over when the timer begins.
When a bonus can wait, you decide when to use it. When it starts automatically, you either use it right away or accept that some of its duration may be wasted.
That is why rewards in the Garden Pass, Explosive Rewards, BlackBerry Treasure, and other situations where you can choose when to collect a timed reward should not always be claimed immediately. If an unlimited booster is waiting and you only have a few minutes to play, it can be smarter to leave it there until you have enough time to make proper use of it.
So, Do Bonuses in Gardenscapes Always Start Automatically?
No. Most timed bonuses in Gardenscapes start automatically when you receive them, but some rewards give you more control over when that happens.
Bonuses in the Garden Pass can remain unclaimed until you decide to collect them. And when events such as Explosive Rewards or BlackBerry Treasure are about to give you an unlimited booster, it is worth thinking about your timing before you claim the reward.
If you do not have enough time to keep playing, wait whenever the game allows you to. Collect the unlimited booster when you are ready for a proper playing session so that as little of the timer as possible goes to waste.
