A humorous fictional Gardenscapes match report inspired by the Shooting Range element. Was it a penalty, and was the red card justified?

Matchday 5 of the Shooting Range championship in Gardenscapes is in full swing. This time, the Pumpkins are facing the Scarecrows.

63rd minute. The score is 0-0, and the entire match could come down to one single moment.

The Pumpkins' penalty specialist, Gourd Crusher, places the ball on the spot and prepares to take a penalty that could change the course of the game. The crowd is holding its breath, Scarecrows goalkeeper Patch Walker waits on the goal line, and referee Sir Element is about to give the signal.

But how did we get here?

Let's rewind a few seconds. Pumpkins forward Jack O'Lantern bursts into the penalty area at full speed, trying to get to the ball first.

Scarecrows defender Burlap Grim slides in with a tackle. Jack O'Lantern goes down, and the protests begin immediately. The Pumpkins are demanding a penalty, while the Scarecrows insist their defender got the ball first and that the challenge was clean.

Sir Element does not hesitate. He blows his whistle and immediately points to the spot.

The decision goes to VAR

It is a difficult call, and the play needs a closer look. In the VAR room are three of the most experienced officials in the championship: Jacques, Robbie Wood, and Austin.

The three officials review every available angle and examine the contact inside the box frame by frame. They are trying to determine whether Burlap Grim got to the ball first, whether he clearly brought down his opponent, or whether Jack O'Lantern went down too easily.

The tension keeps building. The players wait on the field, the crowd is split over the decision, and every eye is on the referee.

After reviewing the play, VAR sends its recommendation to the referee.

The original decision stands: foul and penalty to the Pumpkins.

The referee then reaches into his pocket, pulls out a red card, and sends off Burlap Grim. The Scarecrows protest furiously, arguing that both the penalty and the red card are far too harsh.

The penalty kick

The Pumpkins' penalty specialist, Gourd Crusher, steps up to take it.

The referee blows his whistle. Gourd Crusher starts his run-up and drives the ball toward goal.

Patch Walker dives the right way and gets both hands to the ball, but he cannot keep it out.

The ball hits the back of the net.

Sir Element blows his whistle and points to the center circle, confirming the goal.

The stadium erupts. The Pumpkins race toward the stands to celebrate with their supporters, while the Scarecrows surround the referee, still insisting that the decision was wrong.
