Playrix Changed the Gardenscapes Facebook Rules — Here’s What Changed

Playrix’s current Gardenscapes Facebook rules look different from the earlier migration instructions. Here is what changed and what players should know.

For weeks, Gardenscapes players using the old Facebook version were told to prepare for the end of Facebook Web Games and move their progress before the platform disappeared. Now that the shutdown has happened, Playrix’s current Help Center uses wording that looks noticeably different from the migration instructions players were following before the deadline.

That does not mean Gardenscapes itself shut down with Facebook. The standalone game is still available on supported platforms. The confusing part is much narrower: what Playrix now says about progress that originated specifically on the old Facebook platform.

The difference is significant enough that players who remember the earlier migration instructions may reasonably wonder whether the rules changed after the deadline.

What Playrix Says Now

Playrix’s current Gardenscapes Help Center makes a very direct statement on its page about transferring game progress to another device:

Progress from the Facebook platform cannot be transferred to mobile, Windows, or Mac versions of the game.

At the same time, Playrix still explains that players using the regular Gardenscapes app can save or synchronize progress with Facebook, Google, or Apple ID.

Those statements may sound contradictory at first, but they describe two different situations.

Facebook Login Is Not the Same as the Facebook Platform

When Playrix refers to saving progress through Facebook, it is talking about Facebook as an account connection inside supported versions of Gardenscapes.

That is different from the old Facebook platform version, where Gardenscapes itself ran through Facebook’s Web Games environment.

A player using Gardenscapes on Android, iOS, Windows, or macOS may still connect the game to Facebook for account purposes. That does not mean a save created inside the discontinued Facebook-hosted version can be moved through the same system.

Why This Looks Like a Rule Change

Before the shutdown, affected players were given migration instructions specifically for the Facebook version of Gardenscapes. Those instructions involved identifying the old Facebook account, keeping the Facebook Player ID, installing a supported version of Gardenscapes, and following the migration prompts tied to the discontinued version.

That was not an ordinary device-to-device sync. It was a special migration process created around the Facebook shutdown.

Now, after the deadline, Playrix’s general transfer documentation presents a much simpler rule: Facebook-platform progress cannot be transferred to mobile, Windows, or Mac.

That makes it look as if the rules changed overnight. A more likely explanation is that the shutdown migration was a temporary process, while the current Help Center has returned to describing the normal transfer rules that remain after the Facebook version disappeared.

The Earlier Migration Was a Special Case

The Facebook progress migration process was built specifically around the shutdown and included steps that ordinary Gardenscapes transfers do not require.

That helps explain why players could previously receive instructions for moving Facebook progress while the current Help Center now says that Facebook-platform progress cannot normally be transferred.

The two sets of instructions may describe different stages of the same transition rather than two conflicting policies running at the same time.

What Has Not Changed

Several parts of Playrix’s account system still work as before.

  • Regular Gardenscapes progress can still be saved while the device is connected to the internet.
  • Supported versions can still use Facebook, Google, or Apple ID for account saving and synchronization where available.
  • Playrix still recommends keeping your Player ID and team information.
  • Customer Support can use account details to help identify or restore regular game progress in some cases.
  • Facebook connection troubleshooting is still available in the Gardenscapes Help Center.

So this is not a case of Playrix removing Facebook entirely from Gardenscapes. The issue is specifically the old Facebook-hosted version and the status of progress created there.

Why the Current Help Pages Are Easy to Misread

Imagine two players.

Player A has been playing Gardenscapes on an Android phone for years and uses Facebook to save the account.

Player B played Gardenscapes directly inside Facebook through the old Web Games platform.

Both can honestly say, “My Gardenscapes account is connected to Facebook.”

But technically they are not in the same situation.

Player A is using Facebook as a login and synchronization method for a supported version of Gardenscapes. Player B had progress created on the Facebook platform itself.

That distinction explains most of the apparent contradiction in the current Help Center.

Did Playrix Actually Change the Rules?

What we can say with confidence is that the wording players see today is different from the migration instructions used during the shutdown period.

What we cannot say with certainty is that Playrix abruptly changed the underlying policy on October 1.

The more careful interpretation is that there were two systems:

  • a shutdown-specific migration route for the old Facebook version, and
  • the normal cross-platform transfer rules that continue afterward.

The current Help Center clearly describes the second system. What it does not explain clearly is what happened to the first one once the deadline passed.

What If You Missed the Migration Window?

If your progress existed only in the old Facebook-hosted version and you did not complete the migration before the shutdown, you should not assume that signing into Facebook on a newly installed Gardenscapes app will automatically restore that garden.

The current Playrix documentation specifically warns that Facebook-platform progress cannot be transferred through the normal mobile, Windows, or Mac transfer system.

If you are seeing Level 1, a missing garden, or no recovery option, it is safer to treat the situation as an account-specific support issue instead of repeatedly switching accounts, reinstalling the game, or accepting progress prompts without checking them carefully.

So What Should Players Actually Do?

The correct next step depends on where your Gardenscapes progress originally existed. This is the part players need to identify before trying anything else.

If You Played the Regular Gardenscapes App and Used Facebook to Save Your Progress

If you were already playing on Android, iOS, Windows, or macOS and Facebook was simply the account you used to save or synchronize your game, your situation is different from someone who played only through Facebook Web Games.

Install or open the supported Gardenscapes app and connect it to the same Facebook account you previously used. If the game detects saved server progress and gives you a choice between local progress and an On Server version, check the level and account details carefully and select the correct saved garden.

Do not choose a different save just because it appears first. If the account you expect does not appear, stop there and contact Playrix Support rather than repeatedly reconnecting accounts or reinstalling the game.

If You Played Only Through the Old Facebook Platform

If your garden existed specifically inside the discontinued Facebook version and you did not complete the special migration before the shutdown, the normal Facebook login or device-transfer process is not the solution.

Playrix’s current documentation says that Facebook-platform progress cannot be transferred to mobile, Windows, or Mac through the standard transfer system. That means repeatedly installing the app and signing into Facebook should not be treated as a guaranteed recovery method for an old Facebook-platform-only garden.

Your practical next step is to gather as much information about the old account as possible and contact Playrix Support directly.

  • Player ID or Facebook Player ID, if you saved it
  • player name
  • team name
  • approximate level
  • screenshots of the old garden or account
  • the Facebook account that was used
  • purchase receipts, if applicable

Explain that the progress came from the discontinued Facebook platform version, not simply from a mobile or PC account connected to Facebook. That distinction matters because the two types of accounts are treated differently in Playrix’s current documentation.

If You Already Have Another Garden on the Same Device

Be especially careful before accepting any account or progress prompt.

If another Gardenscapes garden is already active on the device, do not overwrite it while experimenting with the old Facebook account. Make sure you know which garden is local, which one is stored on the server, and which account each one belongs to before confirming any replacement.

If you are not sure, stop and contact Support first. Recovering one garden should not come at the cost of losing another one.

The Short Version

  • Regular app account connected to Facebook: reconnect the same Facebook account and use the correct server save if it appears.
  • Old Facebook-platform-only garden: the normal transfer route does not apply; collect your account details and contact Playrix Support.
  • Another garden already exists on the device: do not overwrite or replace anything until you know exactly which progress is being loaded.

Why We Are Not Calling This a Mass Failure

So far, there has not been a large public wave of Gardenscapes players reporting the same post-shutdown failure.

A confusing Help Center page is not proof that thousands of gardens disappeared, and one player being unable to recover an account does not establish a system-wide problem.

The real issue right now is the gap between the migration instructions players saw before the deadline and the wording Playrix uses after the shutdown.

🧭 Quick Tip

What Players Should Do Now

If you already completed the Facebook migration successfully and your garden is working on a supported version, there is no reason to change anything simply because the Help Center wording looks different now.

If your old garden never appeared, keep whatever identifying information you still have:

  • Player ID
  • old screenshots
  • player name
  • team name
  • approximate level
  • the Facebook account previously used
  • purchase receipts, if applicable

That information may be much more useful to Playrix Support than repeatedly trying different accounts or reinstalling the game.

What We Are Watching Next

The next meaningful development will probably come from one of two places: a new Playrix clarification aimed specifically at former Facebook-platform players, or a repeated pattern in the answers Customer Support gives to players who missed the migration.

If Playrix confirms that the shutdown migration route has permanently ended, the current documentation will make much more sense.

If Playrix continues restoring old Facebook-platform gardens manually, that would answer an equally important question that the public Help Center currently leaves open.

For players still dealing with a missing account after the cutoff, the practical steps for those who missed the Facebook transfer deadline remain relevant while we wait for clearer guidance.

Conclusion

Playrix’s current Gardenscapes Help Center now says clearly that progress from the Facebook platform cannot be transferred to mobile, Windows, or Mac through the normal transfer system.

That looks very different from the special migration process players were following before the shutdown, but it does not necessarily mean Playrix suddenly reversed its policy. The more likely explanation is that the migration was a separate shutdown-specific process, while the current Help Center describes the standard rules that remain afterward.

For players, the practical difference is now clear: if Facebook was only your login method for a regular Gardenscapes app, reconnecting the same account and restoring the correct server save may still recover your progress. If your garden existed only on the old Facebook platform and the special migration was never completed, the normal transfer system is no longer the route to follow; preserve your account details and take the case directly to Playrix Support.

What Playrix still needs to clarify is whether former Facebook-platform gardens that missed the migration window can still be recovered manually, and under what conditions.

For now, the Facebook game may be gone, but the fine print is still very much alive. Apparently, the hardest Facebook level now lives in the Help Center.
