Why Gardenscapes Expeditions Don’t Start at the Same Time for Everyone

One player opens Gardenscapes and already has the next Expedition. Another player opens the game that same day, has the latest update installed, and is still playing the previous one. That does not automatically mean something is wrong with either account.

Gardenscapes uses different groups of players for testing, which can lead to different timing and different versions of content from one account to another. With Expeditions, we now have enough evidence to know those differences can affect something as basic as when the next Expedition actually starts.

What Playrix Officially Confirms

In the official Gardenscapes Help Center, Playrix says one reason a player may not have access to an event or competition is that they are part of a testing group. The explanation applies to events in general, not specifically to Expeditions, but it confirms an important point: not every Gardenscapes account is always given the same experience at the same time.

That matters when two players compare what they see in the game. Even if both are running the exact same version of Gardenscapes, they are not guaranteed to have the exact same content available at the exact same time.

There’s Also a Specific Expedition Example

The strongest example comes from a player who shared a response they received from Gardenscapes Support after an Expedition did not appear on their account.

According to the published response, the Gardenscapes development team at Playrix was testing a different Expedition setup. The message said some players could see differences in duration and balance, while the Expedition would start later for the group that particular player had been placed in.

That is much more specific than a general statement about testing. It shows that Playrix has used different start times as part of a test involving Expeditions themselves.

This does not mean every delayed Expedition is caused by the exact same kind of test. What it does show is that a later start can be intentional and can depend on which group an account has been assigned to.

What Can Change During an Expedition Test?

Based on that Support response, we can confidently say that at least two things have been tested: duration and balance. Since the Expedition also started later for that group, the schedule itself can clearly vary as well.

What we cannot say is exactly what “balance” means in every test. Without evidence, it would be a stretch to claim that it refers to specific changes in energy, rewards, or the cost of clearing obstacles.

What we do know is that Playrix can test different versions of an Expedition without giving every version to every player at the same time.

Is It Based on Country or Server?

Country is one of the first explanations players usually bring up when someone gets an Expedition earlier than they do. That quickly turns into theories about an “Asian server,” a “European server,” or certain countries getting new content first.

There is no official documentation showing that Gardenscapes Expeditions are divided strictly this way.

Region may play a role in some rollouts, but testing groups make it clear that country alone cannot explain what every individual account sees. Playrix has not published the criteria it uses to decide which accounts are placed in which groups.

Level Requirements and Updates Are a Separate Issue

Before assuming an account has been placed in a different test group, it still makes sense to check the normal requirements for accessing Expeditions.

According to the official Help Center, Expeditions become available from Level 43 after completing the “Bring the Puppy” task. Playrix also says players need a compatible iOS or Android device with more than 1 GB of free storage.

Those requirements determine whether a player can access the main Expedition feature. They do not guarantee that every eligible account will get the next Expedition on the same day.

The same goes for game updates. If your game is out of date, installing the latest version is an obvious first step. But if two accounts are already running the same version and one of them is still on the previous Expedition, reinstalling the game over and over is not a known way to move an account into a different test group.

Hidden Legacy Is a Recent Example

The same confusion showed up again with Hidden Legacy. Some players with fully updated versions of Gardenscapes saw other people already playing the new Expedition while their own accounts were still on the previous one. Naturally, the questions started: Is it the country? Is it the server? Did some regions get it first?

There is no evidence showing that Hidden Legacy is exclusive to any particular region. Based on what we already know about earlier Expedition tests, different schedules between groups of accounts are a much stronger explanation than simply assuming that “Asia got it first.”

Can You Change Your Test Group?

There is no official way to choose your testing group or tell the game to activate an Expedition just because another player already has it.

Restarting, updating, or reinstalling the game can help when there is an actual technical problem. But if your account has intentionally been placed in a different Expedition setup, those steps are not a way to switch groups.

This is also why comparing your account with a friend’s account, a teammate’s game, or a YouTube video can sometimes be misleading. Seeing another player with different content does not automatically mean your own game is broken.

Expeditions Aren’t the Only Place We See This Kind of Testing

The same idea of giving selected accounts different features has also appeared inside the Expedition system itself. For example, extra reward systems inside Expeditions have appeared for some players without being available to everyone.

That does not prove every Expedition feature uses the exact same testing groups. But it does show why one player’s account cannot always be used as proof of what everyone else “should” have.

So if other players have already moved on and your account is still waiting, there is more than one reason the new Expedition may not have appeared for you yet. Your account’s test group and its rollout timing are now two of the main possibilities worth considering.

Conclusion

Gardenscapes Expeditions do not necessarily start at the same time for every player. Playrix officially confirms that testing groups are used in the game, and a published Gardenscapes Support response specifically described a different Expedition setup involving changes to duration, balance, and a later start.

That does not mean we know exactly how Playrix divides players into these groups. We also do not know how much of a role country or region plays in each individual rollout.

But we know enough to stop assuming that two players with the same version of Gardenscapes must always be on the same Expedition schedule. If one account already has the next Expedition and another does not, the account’s test group is one of the first explanations worth considering.
