Explore the history of Gardenscapes Renovation Events from 2019 to 2023, including their locations, renovation tickets, themes, stories, and the evolution of this classic limited-time event format.

Renovation Events were a distinctive type of limited-time event in Gardenscapes. The core mechanic stayed largely the same, but each edition introduced a different location, story, cast of characters, and theme. One event might have players renovating a kitchen, while the next could take them to a mountain chalet, a café, a submarine, or even Santa's workshop.

What Were Renovation Events?

Unlike the regular restoration of the main garden areas, Renovation Events gave players access to a separate room or location. They belonged to an earlier period when Gardenscapes relied much more heavily on temporary decorating content and special side locations. According to the Gardenscapes Wiki records, players earned special renovation tickets by completing match-3 levels. Those tickets were then spent on renovation tasks such as painting, buying furniture, and choosing decorations.

These events were available for a limited time, usually around 7 to 10 days. By completing the required renovation tasks, players could finish the location and preserve the completed version of the space. This format made renovation itself the focus of the temporary event rather than simply offering decoration as a reward at the end.

The Same Core Mechanic, a Different Story

One of the most interesting features of Renovation Events was how Gardenscapes could reuse the same basic structure while telling a completely different story each time. The event name was usually tied directly to the place players were renovating.

For example, Pastry Shop in 2022 was a Renovation Event built around a pastry shop. Older gameplay videos may refer to it with descriptions such as Renovated Ralph Ray Pastry Shop, but Pastry Shop was not a separate game mode. It was one themed version of the broader Renovation Event format.

From the Attic to the Captain's Cabin

The documented timeline begins with Attic in July 2019. Over the following months, Gardenscapes introduced locations that fit the traditional idea of home renovation much more closely, including the Kitchen, Study, Bedroom, and Bathroom.

Gradually, however, Playrix began using the same formula much more freely. Lake House, Open-air Cinema, Camper Van, and Mountain Chalet moved the format beyond ordinary rooms and turned Renovation Events into a way to tell short, self-contained stories in entirely different settings.

When Renovations Became Mini Adventures

Starting in 2021, the settings became even more varied. Mysterious Castle, Skyscraper Roof Garden, Houseboat, Clock Tower, and The Submarine showed just how far Playrix could stretch the concept without changing the basic renovation mechanic.

Santa's Workshop used a Christmas theme, while Romantic Date built a romantic storyline around William and Olivia. Other events pushed the idea even further, with settings such as a Radio Station, an Art Exhibition, a Polar Station, and a Witch's House.

Pastry Shop and Ralph Ray

Pastry Shop appears in the documented timeline in September 2022. This is the event found in older gameplay footage referring to the Ralph Ray Pastry Shop. Ralph Ray and the story surrounding his shop provided the theme for this particular renovation, while mechanically the event still belonged to the same broader family of Renovation Events.

This distinction is useful when looking through older Gardenscapes material. A gameplay video may emphasize the character or location being renovated in its title, even though the underlying event still uses the familiar Renovation Event system.

The Last Documented Renovation Events

The public timeline continues through 2023 with Witch's House, Saloon, Pilot Mansion, Queen's Chamber, Cozy Attic, and finally Captain's Cabin in November 2023.

Based on the documented history of the format, Captain's Cabin is the last Renovation Event recorded in this series. That should not be interpreted as an official Playrix announcement that Renovation Events were discontinued on a specific date. It simply marks the point where the public record of this format ends, while Gardenscapes increasingly shifted toward expedition-based temporary events and other types of limited-time content.

Why Renovation Events Still Matter Today

Renovation Events are part of Gardenscapes history that many newer players may never have experienced. For several years, the game used the renovation of separate locations as a recurring event format, creating dozens of small stories alongside the main garden.

The full timeline also shows how the game's approach to event design changed over time. The earliest Renovation Events focused mainly on rooms and familiar domestic spaces. Later events moved into castles, submarines, polar stations, radio stations, and other much more adventurous locations.

Looking back at the complete series makes it clear that Renovation Events were more than a collection of temporary rooms. They represented a distinct era of Gardenscapes, when limited-time storytelling was built around transforming a space piece by piece and watching a separate location take shape as the event progressed.
