Can you restart Gardenscapes from Level 1? Learn what happens to your progress, why reinstalling does not reset the game, and the safest options.
After a streak of difficult levels or repeated losses, many players reach the same point: the thought that starting over might somehow fix everything. It can feel as if early mistakes, wasted boosters, or poor move decisions are the reason progress has slowed down. But before restarting, it is important to understand what a Gardenscapes reset actually means, because starting again from Level 1 is possible only under specific conditions.
Can You Officially Reset Gardenscapes?
Yes. Gardenscapes does have an official way to start over, but it requires deleting the existing game account and its progress. This is very different from simply reinstalling the app or signing out. If your goal is only to experience the early levels again while protecting your current game, using a separate Gardenscapes environment on the same phone may be a better option when your device supports it.
According to Playrix, account deletion can be started from the game settings. Open Settings, select the information button, choose Delete Account, continue through the confirmation process, type DELETE, and confirm the request.
This process is not an instant restart. Playrix provides a 15-day cancellation period during which the deletion request can still be reversed. During this period, you cannot start again from Level 1 using that same game account. Once the deletion is completed, the previous progress is permanently removed and cannot be restored.
What Happens If You Delete and Reinstall the App?
Deleting and reinstalling Gardenscapes does not normally reset the game. Progress is saved automatically on Playrix's servers while the device is connected to the internet, which means reinstalling the app can simply bring the same progress back.
Connecting Gardenscapes to Google, Apple, or Facebook can also help protect and restore your progress, but these services are not the only reason the game may return after a reinstall. Gardenscapes also associates game progress with its own server-side account and installation data.
This is why uninstalling the app, clearing storage space, and downloading Gardenscapes again should not be treated as an official way to restart from Level 1.
Can Playrix Simply Unsync Your Existing Account?
We asked Gardenscapes Support this question directly: could an existing account simply be disconnected from one installation so that a player could start a completely new game from Level 1 while keeping all of the original account's progress intact?
The answer was no. Gardenscapes Support explained that each game installation is connected to a unique ID on Playrix's servers. There is no option to leave that installation empty for a new game while keeping the previous progress attached to it. To start over within that same device profile, the existing progress has to be reset.
This distinction is important. Resetting an account is not the same as temporarily disconnecting it. If the existing progress is deleted, the stars, coins, decorations, completed levels, and other achievements associated with that game account are not simply stored somewhere waiting to be reconnected later.
Why Do Some Players Want to Start Over?
The desire to restart often appears after consecutive losses or after reaching a long sequence of difficult levels. Starting from Level 1 can create a feeling of regaining control: an experienced player already understands the game, knows how boosters work, and may believe that coins, moves, and resources could be managed more efficiently the second time around.
However, restarting does not change the underlying progression of the game. The same general patterns still determine how difficulty builds across Gardenscapes levels. The beginning will feel easier, but the game will gradually introduce more complicated objectives, tighter move limits, and more demanding combinations of elements again.
How Can You Start From Level 1 Without Deleting Your Main Progress?
If you want to experience Gardenscapes from the beginning while preserving your existing account, the safer solution is to create a genuinely separate game environment instead of trying to reset or switch accounts inside the same installation.
For Android, Gardenscapes Support recommends using a separate Android user profile when the device supports that feature. A separate user profile creates its own environment and device identity, allowing Gardenscapes to start as a new game without resetting the progress stored in the original profile.
The important point is separation. Playrix does not recommend maintaining multiple Gardenscapes accounts within the same device environment because conflicts between saved games can lead to progress loss. A new Level 1 game should therefore remain separate from the account and login method used to protect the original progress.
Will Gardenscapes Be Easier If You Start Over?
At first, yes. The early levels are designed to introduce mechanics gradually, and an experienced player will naturally understand matches, power-ups, objectives, and board structure much better than someone opening Gardenscapes for the first time.
But restarting does not permanently make Gardenscapes easier. Level layouts, move limits, blockers, objectives, and difficulty progression are properties of the game itself. Eventually, a restarted account will encounter the same types of Hard and Super Hard levels that appear during normal progression.
If your reason for starting again is simply to replay the beginning while keeping your main game safe, the same separation can also be created on desktop through separate Gardenscapes profiles on the same PC, rather than sacrificing an account that already contains months or years of progress.
Conclusion
You can restart Gardenscapes from Level 1, but there is an important condition: if you want to restart within the same game installation and device profile, the existing progress has to be deleted. Reinstalling the app is not enough, and Gardenscapes Support confirmed that there is no simple unsync option that leaves the old account intact while freeing that same installation for a completely new game.
If you want to keep your existing progress, the safer approach is to use a separate device, Android user profile, or another properly separated game environment. If you choose the official account deletion process instead, remember that Playrix provides a 15-day cancellation period and that the previous progress becomes permanently unavailable once the deletion is completed.
