Lives are one of the first limits new players encounter in Gardenscapes. Every time you fail a level, you lose one life. If your life counter reaches zero, you cannot start another attempt right away unless you wait for a life to refill, use lives sent by teammates, or activate unlimited lives.

Running out of lives does not erase any of your progress. Your completed levels, stars, coins, boosters, and garden progress all remain in your account. You simply need at least one available life before you can try another level.

How Many Lives Can You Have?

Your standard life counter can hold up to five lives. Whenever you have fewer than five, the game automatically restores one life every 30 minutes. Refilling the counter from zero to five lives therefore takes two and a half hours.

The Garden Pass may increase your limit to eight lives. This benefit is temporary and depends on the perks included with the current Pass. These are regular lives that are used whenever you fail a level, so they should not be confused with time-limited unlimited lives.

Garden Pass formats and rewards may vary from one account to another. Always check the reward track in your version of the game to see exactly which benefits are included.

What Can You Do When You Run Out of Lives?

The simplest option is to wait 30 minutes for one life to refill. You do not need to leave the game open. The timer continues while you are away, and the new life will be ready when you return.

If you want to keep playing right away, the game may offer to refill your life counter in exchange for coins. The current Google Play guide lists a bundle of five lives for 900 coins. Because prices and in-game tests may vary between accounts, always check the amount shown on your screen before confirming the purchase.

Some players may also see an option to watch an ad in exchange for one life, but this feature is not available on every account.

How Do You Get Lives from Your Team?

If you belong to a team, you can request lives through the team chat. Tap the team icon, then tap the request button. Your teammates can select Help to send you lives without losing any of their own.

Each teammate who taps Help receives coins and one point toward their weekly help total. These points show how often a member helps other players, but they do not count toward the team’s Team Score.

Lives sent by teammates appear in the heart menu in the upper-left corner of the screen. They are not automatically added to your main life counter. They stay in the menu until you tap Accept to collect them.

How Many Team Lives Can You Store?

Gardenscapes allows you to store up to 15 lives sent by teammates. Once your storage is full, any additional lives sent to you will not be saved. There is no downside to keeping this reserve full.

If your main life counter is already full, any team lives you receive will remain available as long as there is room in your stored-life reserve. The same applies while an unlimited-lives bonus is active.

With the appropriate Garden Pass perk, Playrix states that players can receive up to eight team lives at a time: the standard five lives plus three additional lives.

What Are Unlimited Lives?

Unlimited lives let you make one attempt after another without using the lives in your regular counter. They are commonly awarded through events, completed objectives, daily rewards, and other in-game activities.

Each unlimited-lives reward lasts for a set amount of time, such as 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or one hour. The countdown begins as soon as you collect the reward or open the notification connected to it. The timer does not wait until you start your next level, and it continues running even if you close the game.

Unlimited-lives rewards from the Garden Pass do not have to be collected as soon as you unlock them. You can leave them on the reward track and activate them after your regular lives run out, preferably when you have enough time to play without interruptions.

Expeditions may contain map locations and Secret Gates with reward bundles that include unlimited lives. If you know where one of these rewards is located, keep enough Expedition Energy available and collect it when you need more lives and have time to continue playing. Used this way, your Expedition Energy effectively serves as a reserve that you can turn into unlimited playtime when the timing is right.

In some events, unlimited lives are included in the same reward bundle as coins or boosters. You usually cannot collect just one part of the bundle. When you tap Claim, you receive every reward in the bundle, and the unlimited-lives timer begins immediately.

Leave the bundle unclaimed until you are ready to use it, but do not wait until the event expires. Depending on the event, unclaimed rewards may disappear, be awarded automatically at the end, or activate without giving you control over the timing.

When Unlimited Lives Activate Automatically

Not every unlimited-lives reward comes with a Claim button. In some events and competitions, unlimited lives activate automatically when you enter the event or when it begins. Electric Showdown is one officially documented example, but it is not the only one.

Event names and formats can change, so check whether the event screen says that unlimited lives remain active for the entire event. If they do, you cannot save the bonus for later. It is best to enter the event when you have enough free time to take advantage of it.

When Should You Activate Unlimited Lives?

The best time to activate unlimited lives is when you know you can play without interruptions. Before collecting the reward, make sure you have enough time and that your game connection is stable.

Unlimited lives are especially useful when:

you are stuck on a Hard or Super Hard level,
you are participating in an event that requires you to complete several levels,
you want to move quickly through multiple levels in one session.

Unlimited lives do not protect a winning streak or prevent you from losing a special reward that requires you to complete a level on your first attempt. They only let you keep trying without using the lives in your regular counter.

Should You Buy Lives with Coins?

For new players, buying lives should be a last resort. Automatic life refills, lives from teammates, and timed unlimited-lives rewards provide plenty of ways to keep playing for free.

Buying more attempts does not guarantee a win. If the starting board is unfavorable, you are clearing the objectives in the wrong order, or you are wasting power-ups, it is often better to take a break and come back later with a full life counter.

Your coins are usually better spent on a few extra moves when you are genuinely close to completing a level.

Why Are Your Lives Not Refilling?

If 30 minutes have passed and your life counter has not changed, check that the date and time on your device are correct. Then close and reopen the game or restart your device.

Do not manually change your device’s clock to reduce the waiting time. Playrix warns that intentionally changing the date or time can cause technical problems and may even prevent you from accessing your account.

Let your regular lives refill automatically while you are not playing.
Request lives from your team before your counter reaches zero.
Collect unlimited lives only when you are ready to play.
