Why Gardenscapes Now Makes You Play More for the Same Rewards

Discover how Gardenscapes has changed its reward system by moving boosters, tools, and prizes from Secret Gates into events that require more gameplay.

Gardenscapes has changed the way rewards are distributed. Boosters, tools, coins, energy, and other prizes are still available, but players now have to earn more of them through active gameplay instead of collecting them easily from a single feature.

Secret Gates Used to Give More Valuable Rewards

In previous Expeditions, a Secret Gate usually contained two boosters and occasionally three, together with coins and energy. Reaching the gate gave the player a complete reward package without requiring additional level wins elsewhere in the game.

In the latest Expedition, each Secret Gate contains only one booster, while coins and energy remain part of the reward. The difference becomes significant when the full map contains several gates, because the number of boosters collected from the Expedition is noticeably lower.

The Missing Rewards Now Appear in Other Events

At the same time, Gardenscapes has introduced additional events that offer boosters, tools, and other prizes. These rewards are not collected simply by reaching a location on the Expedition map. Players must complete levels, collect event points, or reach specific milestones.

The rewards have therefore not necessarily disappeared. They have been separated and placed inside different activities.

The Same Reward Now Requires More Work

A player who once received two boosters from one Secret Gate may now receive one from the gate and have to earn the second through other Expedition activities. This requires extra level completions and, in some cases, the use of coins, boosters, or tools to keep progressing.

Even when the final number of prizes is similar, the effort required to obtain them is no longer the same.

Rewards Are Being Used to Extend Gameplay

Spreading prizes across several events gives players more objectives to follow. A booster may be placed behind the next event milestone, while a tool may require a few more victories.

This structure encourages players to remain active for longer because stopping early means leaving part of the available rewards unclaimed.

Casual Players Are Affected More

Players who complete many levels every day may still reach most event rewards. Casual players are less likely to advance far enough in every event, so they may finish an Expedition with fewer boosters and tools than they would have received under the previous system.

The new reward model therefore favors frequent and consistent gameplay.

A Reward Is Not Always Free

Rewards displayed inside an event may appear free, but reaching them can have a cost. A player might spend coins on extra moves or use valuable boosters and tools to win the levels needed to unlock the prize.

The real value of a reward now depends not only on what it contains, but also on what the player had to spend to obtain it. This gradual shift reflects how the reward loop has evolved over time.

Conclusion

The important change is not simply that Secret Gates contain fewer boosters. Playrix is reorganizing the entire reward system by moving valuable items into events that require continued participation.

Rewards that were once collected together are now divided across different parts of the game. As a result, players must complete more levels and invest more resources to earn what was previously easier to obtain.
