Is an In-App Purchase Required to Finish Frog Trail?

Can players finish Frog Trail without making a purchase? A detailed look at the Dragonfly totals and final checkpoint requirements.

When Frog Trail appeared in Gardenscapes, one of its most controversial objectives was “Make an in-app purchase.” This objective appears on Day 3 and rewards the player with 80 Dragonflies and 1 Rainbow Blast.

At first, this created the impression that a purchase might be required to complete the event. After documenting all seven days of Frog Trail, the numbers tell a more precise story.

How Many Dragonflies Does Frog Trail Give in Total?

The seven documented days of Frog Trail offer a total of 1135 Dragonflies through all available objectives.

Out of that total, 80 Dragonflies come only from the in-app purchase objective.

This means that if a player completely skips that objective, the maximum total becomes 1055 Dragonflies.

How Many Dragonflies Are Needed for the Final Checkpoint?

The final documented Frog Trail checkpoint requires 1055 Dragonflies.

This is the key detail.

Without the purchase objective, the total number of available Dragonflies is exactly 1055. That is the same number required to reach the final visible checkpoint.

What Does This Mean in Practice?

Based on the documented numbers, the in-app purchase does not appear to be required to finish Frog Trail.

If a player completes every other objective during the seven-day cycle, they can theoretically reach the final checkpoint without spending real money.

This changes how the purchase objective should be understood.

It does not appear to function as a locked paywall blocking the final reward path. Instead, it seems to work as an optional shortcut that gives the player extra progress.

Why Do the 80 Dragonflies Matter?

The 80 Dragonflies seem to act as a safety buffer.

A player who makes the purchase can miss or fail to complete some other difficult objectives and still have enough Dragonflies to reach the end of the path.

A player who does not make the purchase has no such margin. To reach the final checkpoint without buying anything, they need to complete all other available objectives.

What Does a Player Lose by Skipping the Purchase?

Based on the documented event structure, a player who skips the purchase loses the 80 Dragonflies from that objective and the 1 Rainbow Blast offered as its direct reward.

That does not necessarily mean they lose the final Frog Trail reward path.

If they complete every other objective, the event still appears to be possible to finish without making an in-app purchase.

Conclusion

The Day 3 objective “Make an in-app purchase” initially made Frog Trail look more restrictive than it actually appears to be.

However, the full seven-day Dragonfly total shows that the purchase is not mathematically required to reach the final checkpoint.

With all documented objectives completed except the purchase, a player can still reach exactly 1055 Dragonflies, which is the final visible checkpoint of Frog Trail.

This means the purchase appears to provide comfort, flexibility, and an extra Rainbow Blast, rather than mandatory access to the end of the event.
