How Will Gardenscapes Make Money in the Coming Years?

Austin imagines future Gardenscapes revenue sources as coins and money symbols appear above him, illustrating monetization, Garden Pass, events, energy systems, and in-game purchases.

This article is not based on any official announcement from Playrix. It is a personal opinion based on the direction Gardenscapes has followed in recent years, the changes that have appeared in the game, and broader trends across the mobile gaming industry.

No one outside Playrix knows which features will be introduced in the future. However, by observing how Gardenscapes continues to evolve, I believe it is possible to make some reasonable predictions about where the game may be heading over the next few years.

Personally, I do not believe Gardenscapes will stop being free-to-play. On the contrary, I think it will continue allowing everyone to play for free while offering more and more ways to speed up progress or gain access to additional advantages.

Is Energy Becoming the Real Currency of the Game?

Personally, I feel that Expeditions have changed significantly compared to their early years. Maps are larger, completing them requires more effort, and many of the most attractive rewards now seem harder for the average player to reach, which fits into the broader question of where the game is heading overall.

In my opinion, energy has already started to become one of the most important resources in the game. I would not be surprised if future Expedition progress becomes even more dependent on energy management or energy purchases.

Playrix does not need to lock content behind a paywall. It only needs to make progress slow enough that additional energy starts to look appealing.

Will Garden Pass Become More Important Than the Levels Themselves?

Many mobile games have turned battle passes into their primary revenue model. Players are not necessarily buying victories. They are buying a better gameplay experience.

Garden Pass already offers rewards, perks, and various bonuses. My personal view is that it will become even more important in the years ahead.

I would not be surprised to see exclusive rewards, additional event bonuses, or new features that become more closely connected to the Pass than they are today.

Will Extra Moves Become the Most Valuable Item in Gardenscapes?

Over the past few years, I have felt that the value of extra moves has continued to increase.

A level does not need to be impossible. It only needs to be lost repeatedly by one or two moves. That is where the strongest pressure to spend coins or purchase additional moves is created.

I believe extra moves will continue to be one of the most powerful monetization tools because they target the exact moment when a player is closest to victory.

Will Gardenscapes Start Selling Protection Instead of Boosters?

This is perhaps the most interesting scenario.

Instead of simply selling boosters, the game may increasingly introduce systems that protect streaks, perks, or temporary bonuses.

The mobile gaming industry is using these types of systems more and more often. You are not buying progress. You are buying the ability to keep the progress you have already achieved, which is similar to the design logic behind certain reward and spending interactions.

If I had to choose only one prediction from this entire article, this would probably be the one I consider most likely.

Will Premium Paths and Locked Rewards Appear?

Most modern mobile games are moving toward multiple reward-track systems.

Because of that, I think it is very possible that we will see more premium event paths, additional reward tracks, or special keys that unlock optional content.

This approach allows the core game to remain free while creating additional opportunities for players who want to progress faster.

Will Decorative Rewards Become More Important Than They Are Today?

Gardenscapes is not simply a match-3 game. It is also built around collecting, decorating, and creating a sense of progression within the garden.

That is why I believe cosmetic rewards still have significant room for growth.

Rare decorations, exclusive themes, collectible items, and seasonal appearances could become a much larger part of the game's long-term strategy.

Could Teams Become the Next Major Revenue Tool?

This is probably the prediction I have the most doubts about.

On one hand, teams are one of the main reasons many players remain active for years. Team competitions, shared goals, and the feeling of belonging create strong connections with the game.

At the same time, however, the recent team chat restrictions for players in the United Kingdom are a reminder that the future of social features does not depend solely on Playrix's decisions. The company itself has linked the change to online safety regulations being implemented in the country, raising broader questions about how team communication may evolve in the future.

In my opinion, this shows that as the obligations surrounding player-to-player communication increase, companies may become more likely to look for solutions that require less moderation, less content oversight, and lower regulatory pressure.

Because of that, I do not believe the future of teams will necessarily be built around more communication tools. Instead, I think it is more likely that we will see additional automated team systems, more cooperative events, more shared objectives, and more rewards designed to encourage participation without requiring constant conversation between players.

If Playrix decides to invest more heavily in teams, my personal expectation is that it will do so through rewards, competitions, passes, team bonuses, and shared progression goals rather than through new chat or communication features.

In other words, I believe teams are more likely to evolve into a stronger player-retention and engagement system rather than becoming a more complex social network inside the game itself.

Is Gardenscapes Moving Toward Personalized Offers?

The mobile gaming industry now relies on enormous amounts of player data.

This allows companies to identify different types of players and adjust offers according to their behavior.

Personally, I think it is highly likely that Gardenscapes will continue moving further in this direction. Players who purchase frequently, players who never spend money, and players who return after a long absence may see increasingly different offers in the future, especially if the game continues following patterns already visible in the way events differ between players.

My Prediction for the Coming Years

If I had to summarize this entire analysis in a single sentence, it would be this:

I do not believe Gardenscapes will try to charge players for access to the game.

I believe it will increasingly charge for time, convenience, faster progression, event completion, and the preservation of advantages that players have already earned.

Of course, these are only predictions and not certainties. It is entirely possible that Playrix will choose a different direction or introduce features that cannot be predicted today.

If I had to make one final prediction about the future of Gardenscapes, I would say that the game will not try to monetize access. It will try to monetize time, convenience, progression speed, and event completion.

And in my opinion, that may become the most important change Gardenscapes players experience in the years ahead.
